Creating Future Ready Schools

(lunch provided; limited seating, first come first serve)

Facilitated by: Terri Meier, Rio Rancho Public Schools and Neal Weaver, Santa Fe Public Schools and John Chadwick, New Mexico Public Education Department and Paul A. Romero, Executive Director of Information Technology, Rio Rancho Public Schools

When we analyze US education practices and classrooms across our nation, we see dramatic differences and gaps in innovation. What can be done? How can school districts transform to ones that are learner-centered, personalized, and leverage the power of technology? With support from Future Ready Schools, districts are making this transformation by revamping such areas as curriculum, instruction, and assessment; personalized professional learning; innovative learning spaces; community partnerships, and other research-based areas. Unlike technology planning tools of the past, Future Ready Schools puts the needs of the student first by defining clear educational goals and objectives. The resulting plan drives decisions regarding bandwidth and internal connections needs. This workshop will support leaders with free tools and resources to empower them to transform their schools into ones that better prepare students for the world they face tomorrow.

During this session, participants will:

  • Dive deep into the research-based Future Ready Framework (Panel Discussion)
  • Understand the planning process (panel)
  • Get an understanding of moving your students academically through engagement strategies  (Terri Meier and Neal Weaver – A RRPS and SFPS perspective)
  • Understand Sustainable Professional Development and Support – The backbone for success (Terri and Neal)
  • Understand the use of data to inform technology decisions (Terri, Neal and Paul)
  • Understand the network, and tools to support your district’s transformation (Paul)
  • Understand the State of NM perspective on Technology Planning and Future Ready (John Chadwick)
